Sheffield event work splits between the city centre and the Don Valley. In the centre, the City Hall, the theatres around Tudor Square and the hotels near the station carry concerts, awards dinners and conference lunches, while Division Street, West Street and Kelham Island run the bar and restaurant trade. Out towards Attercliffe, the Utilita Arena Sheffield brings touring shows and ice hockey, with bars that need to be open well before doors and cleared quickly after.
Every spring the World Snooker Championship fills the Crucible and the bars and restaurants around it for more than two weeks. In June the documentary festival brings delegates into the city, and in July Tramlines takes over Hillsborough Park. Football at Bramall Lane and Hillsborough fills lounges from August to May, and on the Peak District edge, country houses and barns book full floor teams for weddings.
Salt Social People is based in Newcastle upon Tyne, about two hours from Sheffield by train. We recruit a South Yorkshire team the same way we recruit at home: interview, two references, a paid trial shift. At booking we tell you within two hours what we can fill with people who live locally. Where a job is bigger than our Sheffield bench on that date, we either fill the gap with our travelling core team, with travel shown at cost on its own line, or tell you the number we can deliver. The national rate card: Core £25.00, Skilled £28.00, Lead £34.00, senior chef £40.00 per hour ex VAT. No regional uplift, no surge pricing, four-hour minimum per person.
Yes. A typical team is Core bar staff with a Lead running the bar and cash-up. We brief the stock, the tills and the site plan in writing 48 hours before, and by phone three hours before start.
Yes, if you ask early. Both are among the busiest dates in the Sheffield year. We confirm names within two hours and tell you honestly if we cannot fill a position.
Yes, on the same card. No travel charge within 15 miles of the worker's base; beyond that, travel at cost, agreed before you book.
Four hours per person per shift. There is no minimum number of people, so one bartender for a four-hour party is a normal booking.
No. Door supervision and security need an SIA licence and we refer that to a licensed partner. We do supply stewards, admissions and event crew.
