Glasgow's December is built around big rooms and late nights. Hotels around George Square and the riverside run party nights for several hundred, the Merchant City and Finnieston take exclusive hires for teams of 50 to 150, and many parties roll on to a late bar. Ceilidhs are common, which means a room that is cleared and reset in minutes after dinner.
Scotland has its own holidays. Christmas Day, Boxing Day on its substitute of Monday 28 December and New Year's Day fall inside our festive window. The 2 January holiday moves to Monday 4 January in 2027, outside the window, so it carries the standard bank holiday uplift instead.
Salt Social People is an English company based in Newcastle upon Tyne, around two and a half to three hours from Glasgow by train. Our local bench there is small today. For most Glasgow bookings, some or all of the team will be our travelling core team, with rail and hotel shown at cost on their own lines. That works best for runs of dates booked with some notice.
The Subway does not run late into the night, and trains out to the suburbs finish around midnight. For late finishes we write the finish time and the route home into the brief. For our travelling team, the hotel is booked close to the venue and shown at cost. For anyone local, we check the last train or bus before they accept, and plan a taxi at cost if the finish is later.

Two courses need slightly fewer waiting staff than three, but the ceilidh turnaround needs everyone, so the team stays on. If the team travels, rail, hotel and £20 a day meals are shown on separate lines at cost. Festive rates: Core £28.00, Skilled £31.00, Lead £37.00. If the night comes in under the quoted total, we refund 5%. New clients also get one person for one four-hour shift free on their first booking.
